Giggleswick is a picturesque village on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It is located less than a mile from Settle and has a population of approximately 1270.
At the gateway to Upper Ribblesdale Settle remains a hub for the many villages in the surrounding area, once linked by pack-horse trails and drovers roads. These ancient routes survive as scenic footpaths and bridleways to explore the distinctive limestone landscape.
Much of Settle is designated as a Conservation Area, with many 17th and 18th-century buildings, including stone cottages and fine houses around steep lanes and narrow ‘ginnels’. The town boasts an impressive 76 listed buildings, some of which are open to visitors including The Folly (Grade I), and the world’s oldest music hall Victoria Hall (Grade II). Lying within the area are the magnificent Three Peaks of Yorkshire (Whernside, Ingleborough & Pen-y-Ghent) and the spectacular landscape of Malham Cove, Goredale Scar and Malham Tarn.
Stainforth Foss, Catrigg Foss, Scaleber Foss and Janet’s Foss are the grandest and most accessible of the picturesque waterfalls waiting to be discovered, although there are a myriad of smaller falls and cascades dotted throughout a landscape in which the sound of bubbling water is an ever-present companion.
The ancient market town of Settle offers a thriving range of independent shops, galleries, cafes, traditional pubs and a variety of places to stay including charming boutique hotels.
With a modest population of 2600, the town has all the essential amenities a busy community needs – health centre, dentists, veterinary practice, schools, college, swimming pool, library, Post Office, building society, professional services, supermarket, petrol stations and parking.
Settle is well served for public transport. There is a bus stop down the road from the development that has services to Skipton – Gargrave – Airton – Kirkby Malham – Malham – Langcliffe, ensuring that all local towns, villages and nearby major cities are easily accessible.
It is served by the world-famous Settle-Carlisle railway, a 73-mile long railway line that runs from Settle Junction to Carlisle. It’s considered one of the UK’s most scenic rail routes and passes through the Yorkshire Dales and North Pennines.
This development is also close to the A65 that gives access to the M6 motorway, providing easy access to the North, throughout the North West and to the South, making this an ideal location for commuters.
