Is Shared Ownership cheaper than buying on the open market?
👉Yes, and let’s find out why from our Property Sales Manager, Laura!
With Shared Ownership, you only pay a deposit on the share you buy, not the full property price.
For example:
🏡 £200,000 home on the open market = £20,000 deposit (10%)
🏡 25% Shared Ownership share = just £5,000 deposit
This makes it much more attainable to buy your own home.
You will also have the mortgage on the share you have purchased as well as the rent on the share you haven’t purchased.
This combination of your mortgage and rent is often cheaper than privately renting or a full mortgage on an open market value property.
