169 New homes in Wigan

Work is officially underway to bring 169 new homes to Worsley Mesnes, Wigan

The development is being built by Keepmoat Homes, and will be known as The Seasons.

The Seasons will provide two, three and four-bedroom homes for affordable rent and Shared Ownership. The Shared Ownership properties will be available through Snugg Homes and the affordable rent properties will be allocated through Wigan Council.

The new development will create new shops and green open spaces, and all the homes will include enhanced insulation as well as energy-efficient designs for a lifetime, to help keep energy bills as low as possible.

Maria Runaghan, Assistant Director of Development at Jigsaw Homes said: “By working in partnership with Keepmoat and Wigan Council, we can deliver much-needed affordable housing to Wigan. Not only will these homes be energy efficient and cheaper for our residents to run but they will also help us to drive regeneration in the surrounding area.”

To mark the occasion a ‘sod cutting’ ceremony was held with Councillor Susan Gambles, Portfolio Holder for Housing and Welfare. She was joined by local councillors Lynn Holland and David Hurst, alongside our Assistant Directors of Development Joanne Bonnington and Maria Runaghan and our Clerk of Works Paul Barnish.

The development is expected to complete in 2026, look out for our first phase launch of the Shared Ownership homes in 2024.
