Ellis and her mother purchased a 25% share in a 3 bedroom detached bungalow at Cottam Meadows.

This is her Snugg Homes story…

“I am 24 years old and now a home owner alongside my mother, thanks to Snugg Homes and the Shared Ownership scheme. I am originally from South East London and have now settled up north near to other family members who have gone through a similar journey.

Prior to purchasing our new property we were living in rented accommodation. It was a lovely home but it was never truly ours. We wanted to have a fresh start and have a place to call our own.

We had heard about Shared Ownership through a friend who had also considered this journey when house hunting. We had to do quite a bit of research, but take it from someone who has done it now, the stereotypes in my experience are nothing but stereotypes. There are things you can’t do, but none that impact your lifestyle or you being able to put your own stamp (within reason) on your new home.

The best things – for us – about Shared Ownership, was getting onto the property ladder without needing a heavy deposit, and being able to staircase when it suits us and our financial situation.

Honestly…I feel like I have achieved something, I can brag (in a humble way I promise!) that I am a homeowner at 24 years old.

The house is beautiful. It’s spacious and designed with a lovely modern interior with room to add our own character. There were some building errors which were stressful to deal with at first, however once reporting our concerns to relevant parties, these were dealt with in a timely and professional manner.

Overall, the Snugg Homes service was good, really good. They always kept us informed and up to date, and they were always willing to answer our queries and help us overcome any hurdles that we came across. How can you fault a company who has helped you get your forever home?”
